The 39 Clues Series

The 39 Clues series is very adventurous and has some action in it. It is about two kids named Amy and Dan whose grandma (named Grace) dies of old age. At her funeral all of her relatives come and gather around . The host shows them a video their grandma made. In the video she tells them that she has hid 39 clues all over the world and says if you find all 39 clues you will be the most powerful person in the world. You could do that or instead take one million dollars and be done with it.

Alcatraz Versus The Evil Librarians (guest post by Logan)

Alcatraz Versus The Evil Librarians is the first book in a series of four. It is about a boy who is an orphan and he has a special talent (like another series I wrote about) for braking everything! On his 13th birthday his grandpa comes and says that he needs Alcatraz to help him stop the evil librarians that are trying to take over the world.

The 4th book in the series ends in kind of a cliffhanger. The reason for that is because the author wasn't getting enough money for it and didn't have enough money to write another one.

Personal Opinion
I like this series because it is action packed. I really liked the part with monsters, and the battle at the end was kind of intense. I thought that Alcatraz and his grandpa were funny. I did not like that all the chapters ended in cliffhangers.

Things moms would like to know

1. There is no swearing
2. Some parts are a little creepy in the second book
3. recommended for 8+

*Note from Logan's mom
Logan loved this book so much that he begged me to read it too. It had a bit of an Harry Potter feel to it and I actually enjoyed it. I would recommend  it to any adults that like to read a YA book now and then.

Midnight For Charlie Bone (Guest post by Logan)

Midnight For Charlie Bone

This book is the first in a series called Charlie Bone. It is about a boy who finds that he has a special talent which lets him hear what's going on in pictures. His grandma makes him go to Bloors Academy (which is a school for talented children like himself ) even though he doesn't want to. In the first book, Midnight For Charlie Bone, Charlie tries to help a girl who has been hypnotized and fight off the evil Bloor family. There are 8 books in this series. It was written by Jenny Nimmo

1.There is no swearing in this series
2. It is not violent

Personal   Opinion
I like this series because it is a mystery series and it's very intense. The first part is a little slow but after a while it gets really good!

Fellowship Of The Ring by J.R.R Tolkien.

About This book

This book is about Frodo (the ring bearer) who inherited a very powerful ring from his adopted father Bilbo Bagens. The ring has a mind of its own and every time you put it on it's power slowly becomes  more addicting. Eventually you cannot take the ring off because it takes over your mind! Souron (who made the ring to make himself very powerful) is trying to get the ring back no mater the cost. The fellowship which consists of Frodo Bagens, Samwise Gamgee, Merry Brandybuck, Gandalf the Grey, Arugorn, Legalas, Gimly, and Borumer must travel to Mordor to destroy the ring and keep Souron
from subduing and enslaving middle earth!

personnel opinion

I liked this book because of the action scenes such as when they are in the mines of morea when they battled the ogres. I did not like this book because of allll the detail. Just to warn you the book refers to the Hobbit so you might want to read that first.

Things moms would want to know

1. This book has no swearing

2. Battle violence including blood and death

3. Recommended for 10+

I would rate this book 10 out of 10 Lava Bubbles!

The Action Bible by Daivid Cooks.

I got the Action Bible for my birthday and have already read it twice. It is a great book. It has many different Bible stories such as the story of Jesus, Goliath, and over 200 others. This book is just like a comic book. The art was done by a Marvel and DC Comic artist so I think boys would love it and learn from it. I also think girls would like it  (if she likes comic books).

Personal Opinion.

I liked this book because it's the Bible turned into a comic book. Who wouldn't like that!? What I didn't like was that it didn't explain things in detail like the Bible does. This book is good for ages 9 and up.

The Magnifcent 12: The Call by Michael Grant.

This is the first book in the Magnificent 12 series written by Michael Grant. It is about Mack MacAvoy a 12 year-old boy who is afraid of many things that most people are not afraid of, such as water and birds, but is not afraid of things some people are afraid of, such as bullies. This book alternates between the past and the future. After Grimluk (who is from the past) tells MacAvoy that he's one of the Magnificent 12, he helps MacAvoy find the others so together they can stop the Pale Queen from taking over the world.

Personal opinion:

I liked the beginning of this book the best because of *spoiler alert* the bully pursuit that took place. The other action scenes were cool too! Even though I know it's a series, I thought the cliff hanger ending was lame. This is a good book for kids ages 10 to 13

Things moms would want to know:

1. Some violence and death.

2. No swearing.

3. Nothing inappropriate.

I would rate this book 7 out of 10 lava bubbles.
