The Magnifcent 12: The Call by Michael Grant.

This is the first book in the Magnificent 12 series written by Michael Grant. It is about Mack MacAvoy a 12 year-old boy who is afraid of many things that most people are not afraid of, such as water and birds, but is not afraid of things some people are afraid of, such as bullies. This book alternates between the past and the future. After Grimluk (who is from the past) tells MacAvoy that he's one of the Magnificent 12, he helps MacAvoy find the others so together they can stop the Pale Queen from taking over the world.

Personal opinion:

I liked the beginning of this book the best because of *spoiler alert* the bully pursuit that took place. The other action scenes were cool too! Even though I know it's a series, I thought the cliff hanger ending was lame. This is a good book for kids ages 10 to 13

Things moms would want to know:

1. Some violence and death.

2. No swearing.

3. Nothing inappropriate.

I would rate this book 7 out of 10 lava bubbles.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis

The book was about Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. Stumbling into a wardrobe that lead them to the magical land of Narnia. In Narnia they ran into many magical creatures. Some good, some bad, and some evil. But the most evil creature of all was the white witch. She made it winter but never Christmas. The children needed to find Aslan the lion who was destined to defeat the evil witch.

Personal opinion:

I thought this was a great book for kids ages 8 to12. This action-packed book is full of adventure and suspense. I would give this a rating of 8 out of 10 lava bubbles.

Things that moms would want to know:

1. There is no cursing.

2. There is nothing inappropriate.

3. There is mild violence including death.
